Galaxy A7 Resources

A self-built custom kernel and de-googled stock ROM for the Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 (SM-A750x), with CI-built TWRP/PBRP recoveries and guides for flashing GSIs.

About the project

A second, independent device-kernel project alongside the Realme 6 Droidian build: a custom kernel and de-googled stock ROM built for the Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 (SM-A750x), plus CI-built recoveries and install guides that make the resulting images usable by other owners of the device.

What I built

  • Custom kernel: A modified Android 10 kernel (kernel_samsung_a7y18lte) with device-specific fixes, compiled and shipped as flashable boot.img releases, compatible with both stock OneUI and GSIs.
  • De-googled stock ROM: A de-googled Android 10 OneUI 2.0 build (Stockrom-Degoogled.zip) distributed alongside dm-verity handling instructions to keep it bootable.
  • Recovery builds: TWRP and PBRP recoveries built through my own CI recovery-builder pipeline, using a device tree sourced from AKSharma87's TWRP_device_samsung_a7y18lte.

What I documented

  • Flashing guides for TrebleDroid, /e/ OS, and LineageOS GSIs
  • A step-by-step Magisk upgrade path that avoids a known bootloop on this device
  • Low-level partition recovery using parted, for the "cannot mount /preload" failure mode
